Yasunari Murakami is a famous picture book writer whose work has not only been published in Japanese language textbooks but has been translated and published throughout the world. He is also known as an avid outdoorsman who loves fishing and nature. Murakami enjoys fishing and drawing pictures and was a crayfish fishing champion as a young boy. At the museum, which is located in Ito City, all ages can enjoy Murakami’s Japanese Wild Life Art by viewing his original pictures used in his picture books.

Introducing you to Mr. Yasunari Murakami!
Yasunari Murakami is a picture book writer, essayist, and ukulele player. In 1986, 1988, and 1989, he was awarded the Graphic Award at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. He also was awarded as the Golden Apple Prix winner at the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava and many more awards inside Japan as well. His love of nature and heartwarming art style has been highly praised worldwide.
In the lovely log house museum, you can see the museum logo of adorable fish. There is a terrace in the courtyard, so bring your lunch and enjoy the world of picture books!
